MÀRAS is an international ensemble that takes you on a hypnotic, poetic and psychedelic journey through unexpected musical landscapes and mystical installations. With an experimental sound that draws on rich folk traditions from the northern world – from joik and chanting, drones, ancient, timeless vibrations and presence – MÀRAS creates an experience that is both moving and touching.
This collective’s artistic expression is in constant motion, always evolving, and carries with it strong impulses from several corners of the world: from Norhern-Norway and the breathtaking Sea Sámi culture where the sea meets the mountains, to Finland’s deep forests, marsches and vast rivers, to Eastern tints and California’s majestic mountains and rivers, they carry the primal power of nature itself. It is a mesmerizing blend of the elements, a universal listening expression that takes you on a meditative journey of discovery.
In Tromsø you will meet a sea of sound made by a electric homemade "cello", cosmic saxophones and a flute in a meltdown with the vocalist, ranging from something deep, soulful and ancient, to contemporary, rock and pop and a classical soprano at play. MÀRAS will present a unique performance that combines new handmade fashion straight from nature's wild treasure trove, along with an immersive 3D shadow experience. This trio is a rare gem – a musical "phenomenon" you may not have known you needed, but which will leave a lasting impression on your consciousness.

MÀRAS has been a force in motion since 2015, with several releases, artistic events and conserts, and has evolved into a dynamic trio since 2022. They have delivered a series of unforgettable performances under the title "Eatnamastin", which premiered at the Arctic Arts Festival in 2022. Since then, they have explored festivals and the underground scene in Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Norway, and made epic detours in duo format as MÀ to amongst other Nunavut and New York, where they have created hypnotic experiences that have attracted a passionate and dedicated audience. In the fall of 2025, MÀRAS will release new music - that carries the energy and intense, ethereal vibrations that have characterized their performances. In the winter of 2026, they will take this rare and moving experience on an extensive tour through Finland and selected locations in Europe.
